There is lots to be thankful for these days. We seem to be blessed beyond our wildest dreams and very content right now. So, in honor of November and Thanksgiving, I’m just taking a moment to be thankful for specific things in my life. And since it’s already the sixth, I’m cheating and doing six today.
.) I’m thankful for my God. Who knows what I need all the time, who takes care of me better than I ever could, and keeps picking me back up every time I think I can do something on my own. And I’m sure he laughs a little and says “I told you so” under His breath, but He keeps loving me all the same.
.) I’m thankful for open windows and the breeze. It’s November, but still feels like October. I get that warm and fuzzy feeling when it’s time to put on thick socks, a hooded sweatshirt, and some comfy pants. And just stay home. I’m thankful for cool November breeze.
.) I’m thankful for my parents. They taught me what marriage should be and what marriage shouldn’t be. They love and fight fiercely, but everything they are is in me and I’m thankful for that journey. It has made me stronger.
.) I’m thankful for my bed. It’s actually not that comfortable. We really need a new mattress and if I could just find the perfect headboard, all would be right in the world. But that bed is home. On weekends, it’s where four Grahams and a Monkey stay until it’s ridiculously late in the day. It’s where Chris and I watch TV, have most of our serious conversations, and dream about the future.
.) I’m thankful for hot water. Especially as it gets colder outside, that hot shower is the only thing that gets me out of bed some mornings.
.) I’m thankful for my mother-in-law who is the best babysitter ever. If it wasn’t for her, Chris and I wouldn’t have been on a date in over a year. She leaves work early, gets home late, and sleeps on our couch so that we can be away from our kids for an evening. I don’t know what we would do without her.
