Blogging and reading other’s blogs has me thinking about my clothes in a whole new way. And more often when I buy something, I try to come up with all the different ways it could be worn. If I can’t come up with more than one way, I’m less likely to buy it (unless I just really love it which happens occassionally). I’m embracing the less is more approach and need pieces that can do double (or triple) duty.
Here’s one piece that is holding its own in my closet right now. I first wore it as a dress (original post here).
(dress & sandals: Old Navy, belt & necklace: NY & Co.)
Then later wore it as a top with a black pencil skirt. Yes, that’s a side knot like I used to do in elementary school. Get over it. At least I’m not wearing a banana clip.
(dress and skirt: Old Navy)
I had on red flats, but they didn’t make the final cut.
Not that I’ve ever had a hard time loving to shop, it’s become more fun recently as I look at the clothes I buy with new eyes. With a little creativity, a little inspiration from Pinterest and fashion blogs, and a little guts, I’m building myself a whole new wardrobe. Exciting.
That’s what I’m trying to do this month. I’m attempting not to buy a single new piece of clothing. I have plenty of clothes, just need to look at them with new eyes like you said!
Cute outfits btw!
Thanks Nilda! No shopping for a month was a lot harder than I imagined it would be. I’m going to try it again, I just need to be better (mentally) prepared. Good luck and let me know how it goes!
