weekend read: Cryer’s Cross

I’m not sure how this book ended up in my house.  I’m not usually drawn to thrillers or mysteries, they’re just not my thing.  Truly, I think I picked this up somewhere for about $3.  A good deal will make me buy books I don’t normally read.

But I liked the change of scenery for a couple days.  Cryer’s Crossby Lisa McMann is a story about an eighteen-year-old girl named Kendall who has OCD.  She lives in a small farming community in Montana where everyone knows everyone.  One day when a local teenager disappears, it throws the town into chaos.

So when six months later, Kendall’s best friend, Nico, also disappears, she starts to wonder if there isn’t something more to this town than she originally thought.  Cryer’s Cross is a short read and holds just enough suspense that you’ll be done with it in a few days.  I feel like it’s a story that would make a good scary movie released just in time for Halloween.  It wasn’t a psychological thriller and you won’t be left afraid of your basement (like I sometimes am), but it was enjoyable and thrilling and fun.

So if you’re looking for a different genre than you normally read or this kind of book is right up your alley, I recommend you check out Cryer’s Crossby Lisa McMann.

(P.S. That cover is not the one on my book–and I don’t think it’s a good representation of the book so don’t judge a book by its cover please.)
