weekend read: Gone Girl

You guys, this book.

Oh my gosh, it’s so messed up.

I’d been wanting to read this book (and hearing about it everywhere) since last summer. I finally got it for Christmas and then took my time starting it. I don’t know why I did that. Because once I got started, I couldn’t stop. I did nothing last weekend but read this book, I just couldn’t put it down.

Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn starts off from the point of view of a husband on the day of his fifth wedding anniversary. But you get from the first page that he’s not happily married. The first part switches back and forth between the husband and then the wife’s journal while you learn about their relationship, their struggles, and what happened to the now-missing wife.

Except you don’t know, not really.

This book messes with your head just as much as the husband and wife mess with each other’s. It’s a pyschological thriller in its truest form and you really don’t know what to believe or think until the very end.

And then you just think no way.

I loved this book. I want to read her others (and this is a genre I normally don’t care about). I want to reread this one and notice new things. I want to live in the madness again.

Because that’s what it is, complete madness.

And I enjoyed it immensely.

Have you read this one yet? What did you think??

I read this book in the fall. INSANE! I agree with you that I would like to read it again to see if I picked up on any new things. And I’m not sure what it says about me, but I guessed where things were going a few times. Putting my pyschology degree to good use, I suppose 🙂 Great book…though the ending wasn’t what I was quite expecting. Interested to see if they make it into a movie.

I listened to the audiobook and I loved it! Not normally a genre I read either, but I will probably read her older books too.

I’ve read all her books and in order of favorite to least favorite they are: Dark Places, Sharp Objects, Gone Girl. Yep, Gone Girl was my LEAST favorite! So just imagine how good the others one are!

Isn’t this such a page turner?! I procrastinated myself on reading it and was so glad I did. I just talked my friend into reading it and she LOVES it, can’t put it down.

GONE GIRL IS CRAY. and i loved it. i just loved it. i sat down at my kitchen table to read it and didn’t hardly move till i was finished. i’m interested in Gillian Flynn’s other work, but it’s going to have to be a while before i read any of it, haha. i can only take so much psychological thriller in a given time!
