I hate when bloggers talk about blogging, but I’m doing it anyway. (Skip this one if you feel the same way.) I get that as a blogger, I’m choosing to put myself out there and opening myself up to people that might not like me. I completely understand that this place isn’t for everyone, my style of writing doesn’t entertain or even amuse some, and not everyone that ends up here likes or agrees with what I write.

And I think that is completely wonderful.

The good news is you don’t have to read what I write. That’s how the magical internet works, you only go to sites you want to. But just because I share part (a very small part) of myself on here, doesn’t mean you get the right to critique my life or that I’m inviting you to attack me.

Common courtesy and decency still apply here.

And everywhere, actually.

I know those people that send hateful emails or argue about meaningless things on Twitter aren’t just like this on the internet, that their lives are full of hate and drama and stress and self loathing. I get that.

And I feel sorry for them.

But I still get caught off guard when those comments or emails come in. Or when I hear about friends who receive emails from people that went out of their way to call them names or tell them how wrong they are.

I think blogging, for me, is a wonderful thing. I’ve made great friends through this space, writing helps me make sense of my world in a way nothing else can, and reading other’s blogs inspires me. There is so much more good than bad coming from this world that I’ve created that it’s just annoying that a few dumb people can make it seem ugly when it’s truly not.

People that don’t have joy try to steal other’s. Find your own please.

I promise you’ll like your own joy better than mine anyway.
