visit Indy: Columbus, Indiana

While not truly an Indy spot because it sits about 45 minutes south of Indy, it’s still a pretty great daytrip for the whole family.
In the spring, we made our way to Columbus for the afternoon where we got to spend time exploring the KidsCommons Childen’s Museum and nearby Commons’ playground.
We spent the day exploring the city, easily walking between the museum, the playground, and to nearby restaurants while keeping the girls occupied. Our kids are pretty spoiled since we live so close to the Indianapolis Children’s Museum. We’ve had a membership since Ellie was born and even though the KidsCommons Children’s Museum was a lot smaller than ours, it was full of exciting and new things for the girls to do. We could have easily spent 3-4 hours in there playing if hunger pains didn’t ruin everything once again.
I’m not sure if the above picture does it justice, but that climbing web-thing that they have at the indoor playground across from the museum almost sent me into a panic attack. That thing is high. And my normally-cautious four-year-old got about three-fourths of the way up before she realized exactly how high she was. Luckily a couple really nice older kids helped her find her way (all the way up and then down) so Mommy or Daddy didn’t have to go up there and get stuck too.
Have an afternoon or day to spend on a short road trip? Columbus, Indiana is a perfect one-tank getaway.

I was just talking about this with my wife, Katie, last week. I have a friend that recommended it to me. Definitely going on the family planner sometime soon. Thanks for the insight.
