And our seven-year wedding anniversary is Sunday, that’s how focused I am on this series.
It was kind of like drinking a lot on a Saturday night with your friends. It’s good in the moment, but afterwards, you’re not so sure you’d do it again. And by that, I mean I consumed Insurgent and when I was done, I was so bummed I’d have to wait months before the final one that I wished I had savored it and stretched it out for as long as possible. (Acknowledging the weird drunk-Saturday-night-and-book analogy and then moving on…)
But I’ve never been good at restraint or moderation (also see: eating, shopping, etc.) and the book was done before I even noticed.
Like I said when I reviewed Divergent, there’s lots of young adult dystopian novels out there and many of them are not that great. But the Divergent series is not like the rest, it can hold its own again other dystopian novels and, in most instances, come out ahead.
