new design + a birthday giveaway

I turned 32 a few days ago and I’m pretty excited about it.

My thirties, I believe, are my best decade yet. While I was in them, I would have said my twenties were the best, but now that they’re gone, I realize they weren’t close to great. There’s more calm in your thirties. There’s more real friendship and truth. There’s more peace and growth.

To celebrate turning 32, I got a new blog design. I want this year to be about less fuss and more focus, less clutter and more clarity. So things got cleaned up around here; I got rid of unnecessary categories, random sidebar stuff, and am focusing on writing. That’s why I started this blog in the first place; I wanted to write and felt I couldn’t live wild and free without getting those words out.

And somewhere along the lines, I lost that focus a little bit. So this is a reboot for Trusty Chucks. And I’m pretty excited about it.

And to get you excited too, I’m giving away some goodies I’ve received through this blog. Blogging has brought me opportunities I’ve never dreamed of, friends I didn’t know I needed (but now can’t live without), and has blessed our family in ways only God could have dreamed up.

So as a thank-you for coming here and reading what I have to say, I’ve put together a pretty sweet prize pack that someone is going to win. It’s completely random, but stuff I love and use.

That’s a lot of good stuff right there. So sign up for a chance to win the loot, take a look around the new site, and tell me what you think about it. And here’s to an awesome 32nd year!

My best year has been this year. I have learned more about myself, my relationships with others, and what the root of ME really is. It’s been pretty awesome!

Looks amazing – congrats Mary! To kick off 2014 with less clutter, and more happiness, highly recommend “The Happiness Project” on your reading list too. It can be found at our love of all loves, Anthropologie. Oh and Amazon and B&N too but really, why not make an excuse to go into Anthro when you can. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I have seen this book around and now I’ll have to pick it up…and I’ve got a tCM event at the Fashion Mall coming up in a few weeks so I guess you’ve TWISTED my arm and I’ll have to stop by Anthro. Such a hard life…

Best year so far was 31. Had a second baby, husband deployed for the second time in 18 months, was totally overwhelmed by everything–but I lost 60 pounds, got promoted, kept my children alive for four moths alone without losing my mind, and trained for and completed my first half marathon. Anything is possible with faith, running, and sleep.

That is crazy—you didn’t just survive, you thrived! Dang, I wish I could hit the 60 pound loss mark. In my dreams, I guess. ๐Ÿ™‚

You will get there! What I’ve realized is the last ten id the hardest to get and the hardest to keep. I’m never going to weigh 145, but I’m happy being able to buy the clothes I want, to mostly like how I look\, and to know I can outrun the kids.

I love the new design. It is lovely.

I think my best year was this past year. Despite the loss of my mother in law and my grandfather in August and September, I have grown tremendously this year. I celebrated many high points, and my husband and I have made it through some really low/rough spots. Overall, I really committed myself to strengthen my relationship with the lord and without that I don’t think I would have made it through this time.

Sorry your year has been so rough, but I’m glad to hear you’re still finding lessons and strength. Thanks for always reading Ashley!

I love that you felt the need to de-clutter your blog. I wish I had the energy right now to de-clutter my house more! But I could have been asleep at 8…

Best year… I”m not sure I could say one year, but the last few have been a crazy faith journey and I’d like to think that I am getting to know who God is better… or at least Scripture. It has not been easy or fun at times….. and so much more I could say, but I’ll leave it at that ๐Ÿ™‚ The book I am reading right now with a bunch of girls is Guardian Angel by Skip Moen. It IS NOT a weekend read! but if you want your mind blown on God’s design for women, and really men, marriage, etc.- you’ll get it here.

    Happy 32! I turn 31 in 2 weeks, Nora’s 4 in 1 week. ๐Ÿ™

Love the new blog design. We decided we are done having babies and it’s been so liberating to get rid of all the stuff Addie outgrows. It’s hard to stop myself from decluttering stuff we still need.

I turned 40 this year and I think its been my best so far. Not because everything has perfectly fallen into place, but because it hasn’t. I’ve learned a lot about myself that I never would have know in my 20’s, and only had a glimpse of in my 30’s.

My best year was the year I was 14. I started coming out of my shell and found hobbies I really enjoyed. I’ve had other good years since then of course, but that one was really a highlight as I got my feet under me as a teenager. Good memories. ๐Ÿ™‚
