why everyone should have a striped dress in her closet

Want a spring dress that transitions well into summer weddings, date nights, and fancy dinners? You need a good striped dress with a flattering cut, my friend.

While it’s still slightly cold out and spring is trying her hardest to come but mornings are still pretty cool, pair it with booties and a sweater like I did. I kept my look on the more-casual side with a long, gold necklace since I was teaching and if I’m too dressed up it distracts my students (I’m serious, they just want to talk about what I’m wearing and why I’m wearing it…it’s ridiculous).

For a date night or night out with the girls, I’d throw on a chambray shirt and leave it open or perhaps tie it around the waist and roll the sleeves. Add a simple necklace or chunky statement piece depending on the occasion. You could wear it with a leather jacket if you’re feeling extra sassy. Or if you’re really ambitious, layer a plaid button down underneath for some major pattern mixing magic (just make sure at least one of your colors from the dress and shirt match so it looks intentional and not like you got dressed in the dark).

We’ve got a couple weddings coming up this summer that I’m super-excited about. And while I love the chance to buy a new outfit for a wedding (any excuse, really…), I think this dress will make an appearance at one in a few weeks. It’s an outdoor affair and I plan on dancing my booty off (ya hear that, Kaitlyn??) so I need something to keep me cool and presentable. It’s sleeveless and pretty light weight so I can put on my dancing shoes heels wedges and be comfortable all night.

And not that I want to think about it right now, but this dress would transition well to colder months also. Adding some tights and a blazer would make this professional enough for a meeting or a job interview. But let’s stop talking about colder months because it’s still too soon to fantasize about that. Way too soon.

What do you think? How would you wear this dress? Any fun ideas I need to try?

I agree, everyone needs a good striped dress in their closet. I have a striped dress, but the neck is too wide, so I need to find a realllyyy good one.

I like all the ways you suggested (and the way you’re wearing it!)….And yes!! totally could be transitioned right back into winter.
