I guess we’re never really ready

Today is my last day of summer break. I would like to call for a moment of silence.

Thank you.

This was the shortest summer break ever. Five and a half weeks was just not enough time to get everything done. I didn’t even get to take a nap! Not once!

This summer brought unexpected heartache and loss, things I would have never imagined. This summer brought opportunities and big dreams into realities. This summer has been one of extremes. And while the thought of another school year is no longer just in the future, I wonder if I’m ready. Ready to face a building and a school year without my friend Joe. Ready to take on a huge writing project while working full time. Ready to send my first baby to kindergarten. Ready to wake up at 5:30 AM again.

If this summer has taught me anything, it’s that you are never really ready. Good or bad, life is happening all around and you just do your best to handle it when it comes.

So let’s do this school year. *fist bump*
