my better half

It’s taken me a while to work up to camo pants. There is just something about them that draws a little too much attention to my lower half which isn’t my best half. (I’ve never really thought I had a “better half” when it comes to my body, but I’ve learned all kinds of weird things about myself through writing so I’m leaving it. From now on, my body officially has a better half. Awesome.)

I’ve done the camo shirt and camo-shirt-as-jacket, but switching to pants has been slow. I’ve had these since last spring and they’re just now making an appearance on the blog which means I had to get used to them before I could show them to you.

The good news is I’ll never wear something here that I haven’t worn in real life. I’d never fake an outfit that I think will look “cool” but wouldn’t wear to work, on a date, or to church. I don’t play dress up for my blog and I hope that comes across. You get all the good and bad parts here whether it’s in my faith, my marriage, my friendships, or my clothing.

Because there is enough fake and too-perfect on the internet that makes me feel like crap about myself. I’m slowly learning to stay away from that junk and it’s making me more aware of what I show you here too. Want to do something nice for yourself today? Figure out what junk you’re looking at on the internet that makes you feel less than great about yourself and your life. Then get rid of it. Leave it behind, delete the bookmark, and erase it from your e-reader.

Unless it’s Trusty Chucks. Then I’m going to need you to stay. I don’t care that much about your self-esteem…

(JOKES. Just jokes. But don’t leave, I’ll miss you…)
