weekend read: Bittersweet (& giveaway)

I’ve mentioned my love for Shauna Niequist many times. Years ago, I read Cold Tangerines and it spoke to me like no other book had. Since then I’ve read it every year. It just makes me feel good. Sadly, I loaned it to someone this year and can’t remember who so I might have to go buy another one soon.

I’ve also shared her most recent book, Bread and Wine, which is completely different than Cold Tangerines but still wonderful. So today I’m sharing my love of her again with Bittersweet. Bittersweet is “thoughts on change, grace, and learning the hard way” which is kind of my theme so I’ve enjoyed reading it also.

There is something about the way that Niequist writes that resonates with me. And like any great author, she presents herself in a very human way that makes the reader feel like we would just be best friends if we ever met in person. I did get to see her speak a few years ago, but didn’t get to meet her so we’re not yet best friends. It’s coming soon though, I can just tell.

Bittersweet by Shauna Niequist and giveaway

So today I’m telling you to read Shauna Niequist and get her books for your girlfriends, sisters, and your mom too. She writes from a place of wisdom and grace that we could all benefit from reading her. And also, I’m giving one of you a copy of Bittersweet with some other little goodies to celebrate day 6 of the 12 Days of Trusty Chucks Christmas. Just leave a comment below telling me someone you’d like to give this book to and I’ll pick a winner tomorrow. Thanks for reading!

I would give it to my cousin’s wife, who’s going through a baby’s death. I don’t know if she knows how much God lovess her, and the peace she can get through Him. This would be a great way for her to find out. Even if I don’t win, maybe I’ll buy her a copy and send it along. Thanks sweet Mary. As always, love your blog, love you. oxo

I have heard of her, but haven’t read any of her books. Excited to find one and maybe read it over Christmas break. I would give this book to my sister.

Well, first I would read it and try not to mark up the pages or wrinkle the cover so my friend Jenni wouldn’t know when I gifted it to her. ๐Ÿ™‚ Loved “Bread and Wine” and I’m sure I’d love this one!

I like to read books first before giving them away or recommending them. But I read about this book and it sounds like I need to read it and would be good for family members too.

I would give it to any one of my sisters, whom I love so very much. They are not only my sisters, but my friends who would appreciate the fact that they were thought of. Congrats in advance to whoever is gifted and may it be the gift that keeps giving!
