“The story of a boy called Finch and a girl named Violet.”
This is a story about two high school kids that meet on a ledge while both are contemplating suicide. Two very different kids with two very different stories bond over a shared moment of despair. They fall in love, of course, and then things start to get dark for one of them again.
I loved this book. I don’t want to share too much because I think you should read it, but it is just so good. It’s got everything a YA book should have: young, forbidden love, skipping school, adventures, etc. but there is a darker undercurrent that winds its way through the story that makes it seem more real and urgent. As I read, I hoped the author would, at some point, address the mental illness issues that effected the characters and she doesn’t disappoint.
All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven is a beautiful story about friendship, love, and mental illness. It will break your heart but all the best books do.
