I didn’t start at the beginning because I’m a rebel, but I finally got around to reading Melanie Shankle’s first book Sparkly Green Earrings and it was just as awesome as the two that followed it (The Antelope in the Living Room and Nobody’s Cuter Than You).
Sparkly Green Earrings is thoughts and stories on motherhood from Shankle’s smart and humorous point of view. She writes in such a relatable way that makes you feel less-horrible about your parenting failures (you know, the one or two that I have) and helps you to laugh at the ridiculousness that comes along with being a mom. She loves her daughter fiercely and that comes through easily in a book that could just be full of motherhood complaints.
Sparkly Green Earrings, just like Shankle, is enjoyable. Even if you’re not a big reader, this would be a book for you. It’s full of short stories that just make you smile.
Yes to everything! This is still my favorite of her books.
Definitely a favorite for me. Felt like I was reliving some moments in my own life but could laugh at it now.
I am reading this book now & I love it!
Yay! Isn’t she great?! 🙂
