weekend read: Joe Journeyman (for kids!)

November 15, 2015 By mary Leave a Comment

I’m going to be honest and say that I don’t care much for football. I’m sure you don’t care about that one way or the other, but I needed to tell you because I am nothing but honest and forthright.

But I have a husband who cares about football. He sits on the couch for hours a week watching football, checking his fantasy league scores, and yelling at the television. I do not understand it, exactly, but I enjoy that he enjoys it. Plus, it lets me hide in my room and watch Netflix.

An unexpected result of Chris’ love of football is that I have two daughters who pay attention to football. They love to sit on the couch Sunday afternoons and ask questions about what he’s watching. They love to say their team won or who their favorite team is (based on their favorite colors, obviously). It’s super cute and makes me all warm and fuzzy inside to see them spend the afternoon with their daddy watching football.

Joe Journeyman search and find NFL

Joe Journeyman book

So this absolutely beautiful NFL search-and-find book we got recently was a big hit, especially for Sunday afternoon football time. Joe Journeyman Volume 1 is a unique blend of illustrations/artwork by Jed Bruce and storytelling by David Bazzoni. The plot centers around Joe Journeyman’s adventure of playing on 16 of the 32 NFL teams (Volume 2 comes in 2016 and will feature the other 16 teams) and features amazing artwork for each team stop. Also on each page, readers are asked to find specific pictures (a la Where’s Waldo? books) which are challenging and fun.

Readers (and football fans) of all ages will love Joe Journeyman Volume 1. Since we’re Colts fans, we loved that our team was featured in Volume 1 and that there are even puzzles, posters, and canvas prints available with Bruce’s artwork. Joe Journeyman Volume 1 would make a great Christmas present for sports-loving kids, search-and-find enthusiasts, or a fun coffee-table book for the man room.

On Mondays, you get an email from me. On Wednesdays, we wear pink. Just kidding. I don't wear pink. Also, I've never seen that movie. But I do send out an email every Monday with 5 things for your week. It's worth your time. It's not gonna hurt. It might even help.
