Seriously…I’m Kidding by Ellen DeGeneres is fun. It’s low on actual content and seems like one long monologue from her show, but it was enjoyable to read nonetheless.
Ellen writes like a comedian and often you don’t see her jokes coming which is my favorite way to laugh, completely caught off guard and slightly shocked. Not that Ellen is shocking, she’s very politically correct and silly in a welcoming way. She doesn’t write about controversy or get too adult-ish, this is a book that would be clean enough for kids.
While I enjoyed Seriously…I’m Kidding by Ellen DeGeneres, I was a little disappointed because there wasn’t much meat, if that makes sense. She likes to joke, obviously, but when she got serious even for just a paragraph or two to tell a story, I didn’t feel like she had much to say. She mentioned this was her third book, maybe she’s just out of heavier and more authentic content? I don’t know. I do feel bad typing that because I love her…but I don’t feel that bad because she’s never going to see this.
Have you read this one before? I’d be interested in what others thought about this one.
