Chris Graham is the best at reading to our daughters.
Sure, I’m the English teacher and preach all day long about how important it is to read to your kids, but mostly it’s him who does the hard work.
He sits on the couch, the girls crowding around as the dog tries to weasel his way in, and he reads books. Stacks and stacks of books. With voices, with authority, with whispers, with zeal.
Their daddy tells the best stories.
Someday I’ll tell them the story of how a scrawny stoner from the south side of Indianapolis grew up to be the best dad in the city, possibly, the universe. I’ll tell them about a kid who didn’t know how to treat a girl who learned how to treat three of them like they were the most important things in the world.
I’ll tell them lots of things with my words, but their dad is telling them more than I ever could with his actions. The way he serves us, the way he supports us, the way he puts us before himself screams louder than anything I could ever say. Actions speak louder than words and if you want to learn how to do that well, watch Elliott and Harper’s daddy.
My wildest dreams couldn’t have created the dad my daughters have. I don’t have that kind of imagination, don’t have that frame of reference available to me. But I know someone who does and my Creator did such a bang-up job with Chris Graham that I am often speechless and humbled.
And me speechless and humbled is hard to do.
Happy Father’s Day, Chris Graham. I can’t wait to see what’s next in your awesome story.
Such a great story and testimony! What a blessing! You are so right…actions speak more loudly than words!

What a sweet story!! I’ve mentioned to Charlie how great the both of you are with the girls. It’s reflected in the way they respond, behave, etc. Good job guys!! Happy Father’s Day Chris!!!
