weekend read: Angry Housewives Eating Bon Bons

I first read Angry Housewives Eating Bon Bons by Lorna Landvik about ten years ago. I picked it up at a garage sale and after reading it, knew I’d want to eventually read it again because I enjoyed it so much. So when I was in a reading slump this spring, I read it again because I knew I had liked it all those years ago and I just really needed something good to read.

Again, it did not disappoint. Angry Housewives Eating Bon Bons is about five women who are neighbors in the sixties. They form a book club over their mutual love of reading and are given their name (the title) from a husband joking about what they do each month. The book spans their book club and lives for almost forty years. Each chapter starts with a year and what book they’re meeting to discuss. Inbetween, the reader gets to learn about their friendships, their marriages, their kids, their heartbreak, and their secrets.

Angry Housewives Eating Bon Bons

Angry Housewives Eating Bon Bons by Lorna Landvik is an enjoyable read. I keep it on my shelf because I tell myself at some point, I’m going to go through and read all the books they talk about. Some day. Until then, I’ll just keep dreaming of living on Freesia Court and doing life with such an interesting group of women.
