over the river and through the woods (with a hot drink)

I just started drinking coffee last year.

I don’t know what took me so long. I refuse to tell you how much coffee I currently drink each day, but don’t worry, I am making up for lost time. I’m also making up for anyone who doesn’t drink coffee. I’ve made that my personal mission.

So as the holidays officially start this week (Thanksgiving!!), I’m packing up the car to hit the road. We’ll be weighed down with food, gifts, drinks, and approximately one million small kid toys that we’ll lose throughout the day, but we’re excited and ready.

I don’t know about you, but none of our holiday gatherings are really close by. Chris’ family is a few hours away in Ohio and while my family is all relatively local, we’ve got a little drive regardless. Which is why I’m so pumped about my new Thermos brand beverage bottle. This beauty is vacuum insulated, stainless steel, and double-walled for 40 ounces of my hot (or cold) beverage. I can fill this bad boy up with my favorite coffee concoction and it will still be piping hot when we pull into Grandma’s house.

Okay, actually, it would still be piping hot if we drove to anyone’s grandma’s house because it will keep a beverage hot or cold for a whole 24 hours. WHAT. I mean, I can come to your grandma’s house if you’d just invite me. HINT HINT.

Truth about my coffee drinking: I don’t just drink black coffee. Chris says I’ll slowly make my way to straight black coffee the longer I drink it, but I wholeheartedly disagree. I love drinking coffee, but I don’t really want to know it’s coffee, if you know what I mean. Here’s what I’m currently filling my Thermos (R) with:

-one part fresh-brewed coffee
-one part chocolate almond milk

When when it’s time to serve, I top it with some fancy latte foam from a pump (you can buy it at the local big box store, so I guess it’s not that fancy…) and sprinkle with some cinnamon. If you want to go over the top, also grate some dark chocolate on there. It’s delicious. It’s easy. It’s caffeine, and I love it.

I love that I can fill my Thermos (R) with a million different hot or cold drink options (or soup!) and it stays the same temperature for up to 24 hours. That’s kinda magical, if you think about it. Chris has an old school green Thermos he used to carry his coffee in when he went to work, but now he’s off coffee and just uses it for ice-cold water. I don’t understand how you can stop drinking coffee though. That’s weird.

I think a Thermos brand product would make a GREAT addition to your holiday travels or a perfect gift for under the tree. If you can’t wait for Christmas, head over to Thermos’ Facebook page right now, because they’re hosting a giveaway where you could win this exact Thermos (R) or another of their great products. And if you win, try out the recipe above. Don’t be all generous and give your winnings away to anyone, keep that thing for yourself.
