After reading Shiver, I had to wait for some really slow reader to return the next two books in the series so I could check them out from the library. (Shiver review here)
Oh sure, I could have just bought them, but I’m too cheap. I have a hard time justifying too many YA books purchases now because I can’t add them to my classroom shelf after I’m done. *dramatic sigh*
Enter: the local library.
When Linger and Forever, the second and third books in the Shiver series by Maggie Stiefvater finally reappeared on the library shelves, you know I checked out both of them like a butthole.
I like Shiver and was curious to see what happened next with Grace and Sam, but not dying to know either. This was a fun series to read (even if it happened to be about werewolves) and I liked staying up late reading about their never-ending plight to be together. It was enjoyable and silly, like so many YA series about made-up creatures.
This series would be a big hit with the middle level crowd and should be on upper middle level classroom shelves. I would compare it to Twilight, but I’ve never read that series so I don’t really know. But I’m assuming they’re pretty similar.
Still not going to read that series though.
