a rummage sale

I {love} a rummage sale.  A lot.
And the Catholic church in our neighborhood has an amazing one twice a year.  I haven’t missed one in five years.
EXCEPT the one this past April.
When I was in the hospital recovering from childbirth.  I was a week overdue and kept telling that little baby that she needed to make an appearance so I wouldn’t miss my sale.  But she didn’t listen.  And, obviously, I’m still not over it.
So there was a sale this weekend and the babes and I trekked over, Harper in the Moby and Ellie strutting her stuff like a big girl.  Chris was working and, while I would prefer to go by myself, I didn’t have that luxury.
But it ended up being awesome anyway and I got some good stuff.  The only thing I took a picture of was these beauties.
Two vintage soda delivery boxes.  The faded yellow one, obviously, says “Pepsi” and the other one says “7 Up”–it’s in red and kind of blends in.
I paid $1 for both of them.  Crazy, right?
I also snagged a bag of books (for school, for Ellie, and some for Chris), a toy that Elliott picked out, and two vintage folding kids’ lawn chairs.
And spend a total of $9.
Sigh.  I love that place.
And now will spend the rest of the day dreaming about all the stuff I missed when I was stuck in the hospital in April.  Again, still not over that one.

Um, so I have become a dork and have been reading your blog all day. Not sure if I should get a life or just keep living through yours…

I vote for both. Take care of your cute babe and read my blog. There is nothing else you really need to do. Ever.

I have just found your blog and I also have 2 vintage delivery boxes but don’t know what to do with them. Right now they are just full of magazines I never have time to read. I would love to know what you ended up doing with them or how you use them! Thanks!

I have more than just those two and use them for a variety of things: a larger one is a toy box in our living room, that 7-Up one holds potted plants next to a window–kind of like a flower box–the Pepsi one sits on our coffee table and hold all the junk that goes there (remotes, magazines, coasters, etc.), then we have a larger on on top of the refrigerator that holds infrequently-used kitchen stuff. Not the most exciting uses, I just use them more for storage than anything.
