The story: I started back to school last week and decided to choose all my outfits for the first week with August’s InStyle magazine for inspiration. Using pieces I already had in my closet, I put together five outfits. I’m stepping out of my comfort zone for some of them, while others feel like they’ve always been in my wardrobe. (days one and two here.)
Wednesday’s Inspiration: August 2012 InStyle magazine, page 118. The camp shirt.
My take:
Yes, this is another camp shirt inspiration. Thanks for noticing. Monday’s post wasn’t a button down and I really wanted to try and knot the ends of the button down like the magazine did. So I did it and then I immediately undid it because I looked ridiculous. I’m glad no one saw me with my shirt tied like that. I think even the dog rolled his eyes when he saw me. Let’s just say I won’t try it again. But here’s what’s great about that fail: that I tried. A year ago, I wouldn’t have even thought about trying. Although, maybe I was just smarter then, who knows. But I’m enjoying the different perspective and trying out something new. Even if it’s just for one embarrassing moment.
The verdict: Besides the knot-fail, this outfit was a definite win. I almost felt like I should not be wearing it to work since it was just too comfortable. But by the end of my ten hour day, I decided there was nothing wrong with wearing it.
I also tried the messy bun look from the magazine (page 155):
This is my favorite so far! You look great!
You are adorable as ever Miss Mary!
