I like to be prepared. I get my work outfits ready on Sunday, I make a detailed shopping list before I head to the grocery store, and I make lists-upon-lists that get me through the day. And I also meal plan; I plan our nightly dinners and I prep my lunches, for the week, on Sunday nights.
If I had to narrow my weight loss success down to one thing (as of today, I’ve lost 45 pounds), it would have to be meal prepping and always having good, nutritious food on hand. It’s a given that I will, at some point, be really hungry and make a bad choice, because I need something now. Those are the times I make the most damaging choices, when I’m not prepared and thinking. When I’m just hungry.
I’m sure you know what I’m talking about: those moments when you’ll eat almost anything because you’re starving and can’t.wait.any.longer.
We’ve all been there. Maybe you’re there at this very moment. Heck, maybe I’m there at this very moment.
So to set myself up for success, I’ve incorporated a few things into my life that make it really hard for me to make unhealthy choices:
And if I am truly hungry, one easy go-to meal I like to keep on hand is the new Lean Cuisine Honestly Good line. (I pick them up at Target while I’m buying one of everything from the clothing department so it’s pretty convenient.) Sometimes I want to make a good choice, I just don’t have the time or the energy to cook something from scratch, so having a good alternative around has saved my waistline quite a few times.
If you’ve got about five minutes and a microwave, you can have a natural and wholesome meal in a now time. I like to add a fresh fruit or vegetable to the side and it’s filling and doesn’t leave you regretting your choices. There are six options to choose from, but I especially like the Pineapple Black Pepper Beef and the Roasted Red Pepper Chicken. Those two really hit the spot for me.

Deciding to live healthier is a monumental task with setbacks, a major learning curve, and it’s a very personal journey, but some things are universal and help us all. What tips or tricks do you have for creating a healthier lifestyle? Please share them, I’m always looking for a new idea or encouragement!
