i dream of you.

I am not a very focused shopper.

Most of my clothes and shoes come from random shopping trips.  If it happened to be on sale while we happened to be at the mall, I’ll buy it.  Or if it’s July and I’m back-to-school shopping (one of the many superficial reasons I like being a teacher. . .), I’ll buy things, but again, not really with a game plan.

I’ve only occasionally gone shopping with something specific on my mind.  And normally I don’t find that something and leave discouraged.  So my wardrobe is a random mix of what’s on sale and what happened to be long enough (because I am on an endless search to find pants that are long enough–I’m not complaining about being tall, but it’s really hard to walk into a store and always find pants that don’t make you look like you’re flooding).

So it’s completely out of character for me to be pining for some specific items.  But I am.  And it makes me feel all funny inside, like I must go out tonight and buy all these items so I can sleep.  But I can’t and I won’t.  Although, let’s just say, some of them might become mine this weekend.

Hunter boots, oh how I need you.  I have never obsessed over a pair of shoes as much as these.  Although, I’ve never obsessed over a pair of shoes in general, so there isn’t much comparison.  But I want these boots. Bad.  They’re a little pricey, but they will last forever, I can wear them everywhere, and I’ll always be prepared to go out and feed the chickens if the call ever comes.  And I’m positive it will one day.  I like the red ones {a lot} but feel the original green ones would fit into my wardrobe better.
So I can’t actually buy these right now, but I’ve seen some of the dresses and I can’t wait to buy one (or four) for the girls.  Little wrap dresses by Diane von Furstenberg in beautiful summery patterns?  Shut up.  I can’t wait until warmer weather hits so we can be outside, spend days at the pool, and wear matching wrap dresses.  Oh my gosh, I have become that mother.  God help me.

Statement necklaces! I need some of these–preferably in bright colors.  I have a couple, but they’re getting played out and I need some fresh ones.  The two above are awesome, but the floral one from Betsey Johnson is out of my price range and the green ModCloth one is closer, but still not what I’ll spend.  I’m sure the trusty (and cheap) Love 21 will have some knock-offs available this weekend at the mall.
And last, but not least, a little flashback to middle school when Dr. Marten combat boots were all the rage.  I wanted some of those shoes so bad, but I had to settle for the generic kind because my parents wouldn’t spend $65 on some black boots.  I’m still not over it, obviously.  But now they’re back (actually, I don’t think they ever left) and they’re better than ever.  And now with flowers and crazy prints!  I love them, but don’t see myself ever wearing them, I just really like them.  But if you could make these work for you, please buy them and let me know.  You are much braver than I.
Happy Thursday!

It’s funny I was going to mention your “behind the screen” post reminded me of my middle school years, dress with combat boots. Then I thought that you probably wouldn’t like me to relive any of those fashion moments. The Docs are definitely cuter now but still pretty “90’s”.

I prefer to think the 90s didn’t exist because of my fashion choices. And by “fashion choices” I mean, mesh shorts and t-shirts.

I think someone can pull those boots off, but I am not that person. I vote you do it.
