A few weeks ago, I helped a friend figure out what to do with her summer clothing budget. She emailed me and said she didn’t have a lot to spend, but wanted to add some pieces to make her wardrobe feel fresh and to feel good about what she was wearing (isn’t that what we all want, really?).
So I took a look at her Pinterest board and gave her some shopping suggestions using outfits she liked or things she pinned to try. And for her, a lot of her outfits centered around the maxi skirt. One of the greatest wardrobe inventions: comfortable as pajamas, flattering on every body type, inexpensive, and effortlessly chic.
When I emailed her my suggestions, she thanked me for giving her permission to wear maxi skirts all summer. It made me smile to think how she’ll be spending her summer in clothes she loves, feeling confident and comfortable. And it got me wondering how many of us don’t wear something we want to because we’re waiting for permission. Waiting for someone to tell us it’s okay. Waiting for the go-ahead that will probably never come.
Is there something you wish you could wear? Something you’re dying to try but just don’t know how or what to wear it with? Do you want some help? Leave a comment or question below and I’ll try to help! Or do you just need some permission to step out of your comfort zone and try something a little different? I’d love to help you take the leap. (Unless it’s something like crop tops or short shorts. I’m not helping you jump toward those. Ever. Sorry.)
I need to buy summer clothes too. I’m down to three short-sleeved shirts. How is that even possible? Anyway, for once, I’m glad it’s been on the cool side here.
Your friend is fortunate to have you. I wish someone could look in my closet and just give me a list of things to buy in order to have a fabulous wardrobe.
Love your outfit. Looks super-comfy.
Thanks, Tricia! Move to Indy and I’ll take you shopping! ๐ And THREE short-sleeve t-shirts?? Do you need me to send you some? That is emergency status!
You’re awesome. ๐

I could definitely use a few maxi skirts in my closet. I live in maxi dresses, so I know they’d get a lot of use!
You are like a clothing consultant….awesome!
For real, I love it!
That’s a great feeling to know that you have helped someone feel confident and comfortable!
I have never worn a maxi skirt, and this is kind of inspiring me to get one!
