pigeon-toed polka dots & being grouchy

(pants: Belk, striped shirt: thrifted, sweater: Old Navy, necklace: NY & Co., flats: Kohls)

I feel like I should be going to bed instead of writing this post.

Because I’m tired and that means I’ll probably just write grouchy things.

And here they are:

1. Why do bloggers that like to take pictures of themselves (okay, me…) think it’s cool to stand pigeon-toed?  As someone who is pigeon-toed in real life and has passed this unfortunate trait onto both her daughters, I don’t think it’s cool to make yourself all wonky on purpose.  I would love to not turn my toes in and sometimes if I’m actually thinking about it, I’ll try to stand straight but things get all weird and I just look like I’m getting ready to go to the bathroom in my pants. It’s uncomfortable for everyone.  You know what’s not uncomfortable? Standing the way God made you…and if that’s not with your feet turned in slightly (or in poor Harper’s case, a lot) stop doing it.

2. This sweater.  I’ve hesitated to post a picture of it for the 2+ months I’ve had it.  I like wearing it and have probably worn in four or five times.  But so has every other female blogger in the U S of A and I feel like it’s overdone and boring.  So that I’m posting it goes to show you that it must be a slow news day.  But all this random pattern mixing needed to be showcased.  Too much? Or not enough??  I know which way I’m voting…

Standing pigeon-toed is the modern day ‘hand-on-hip, hip-poked-out’ pose. lol! But I hear you. I have the same polka dot sweater in b&w and I’ve noticed the same style trend among bloggers. Matter of fact, I’m planning to post an outfit I wore with that sweater. 🙂 Excited to link up with you guys on Thursday. Have a great day! xo, Angela

Dude, I always thought you were doing the pigeon toe thing. Nice to know it’s natural and you aren’t being a tool. 😉

I wore this same exact outfit the other day! Ha, that always cracks me up so I know what you mean about not wanting to post things.
But I love it, so we should keep wearing it. Ha!
Also, I think people stand pigeon toed because it puts a gap in between your legs, making your legs appear smaller (we’re all a bunch of tricksters) I find myself doing it and try to stop! It’s a blogger curse.

I love your blog, btw. I am a new follower 🙂

It makes me look thinner to stand that way?!!??

I AM NEVER GOING TO STOP! 🙂 Thanks for the tip Aub!

I think your outfit is adorable, even if we’ve seen the polka dot sweater too many times. It’s a popular item. It’s always fun to see everyone’s twist on how to wear it or mix it.

I really like your top, I don’t think I’ve seen it on too many bloggers! I have to say I don’t *think* I take pics of me with my feet like that… will have to check! x

I think your sweater looks great (and I’m glad you posted it)

I’m almost positive I’m pigeon toed in my post today :/ But here’s my defense…it makes my legs look longer AND I’m a dancer…so all types of feet positions are normal for me 🙂

I just learned this pigeon-toed business makes you look thinner/longer and so I take back all my grouchiness and understand the need for it. I will try to make sure I am ALWAYS standing that way from now on. 🙂

I love the polka dots! As for posing I tend to pop one leg up or go pigeon-toed to try and hide my ass! If my feet are both just normal you see the full width of my hips and butt and it’s just not a pretty picture 🙂

Why did you wait so long?! I’d be flaunting that all over town if I were you! I missed out on the opportunity, so I am living vicariously through all the bloggers out there who have the sweater!

Stopping by from the link up! Happy Wednesday!

I know what you mean about seeing it everywhere in the blogging world, but it’s also crazy when you never see in “real life”. I have never seen anyone else wear this sweater in person, have you? If you haven’t, then you shouldn’t feel blah about wearing it! I think you look fantastic 🙂

    1. You are hilarious
    2. I love the sweater. I actually just bought one from Old Navy, but in blue & white.
I hadnt really noticed it on a lot of people, till after I bought it! haha but so true. Oh well.
    3. I dont know if I tend to stand pigeon toed or not, I didnt even realize that was a thing… But I do have this tendency to stand with one leg always “popped” or bent slightly. I never realize Im doing it when Im taking my pictures… Its always after when I am uploading them to my computer, and Im like darn it!! Im not a fan of how it looks. But i guess that is just me and how I stand! HAHA

    4. I found you via pleated poppy, and glad I did. New follower! ♥

    5. Hope you feel better, now that you got the “grouchy” things off your chest! haha 😉

mary-you have a lot of comments! and, i’ve never seen that sweater. and it’s really cute. we in the south are not on top of things like blogs and (old navy) fashion! hahah. 🙂 and i always stand too straight, it’s awkward too. i dont like being the tall one sometimes so i’ll slouch. i’ve tried “pigeon toe” and it doesnt look good on me. i think the hand on hip thing must have originated in the south, particularly south carolina, because those girls do it all the time. like theyre on the red carpet. makes me feel like a simple country girl from the midwest.

…how do you ever find the time to read all these comments! …..stop typing….
