I enjoy Instagram more than I would like to admit.
I look at it every night before I go to bed and when I grab my phone in the morning, it’s normally the first thing I look at. It’s probably not a stretch to say I’m addicted.
It’s also becoming easier to tell a quick story on there than it is to sit down at the computer and write a blog post. I’m blaming that mostly on summer, but it might be some laziness too. I love the immediacy of Instagram. The quick shot, the caption, and the love. I interact more with my Instagram followers than I do my blog followers. I know a lot of them are the same, but still, IG feels more relaxed and real. More intimate.
I don’t have an eye for photography. I don’t take the prettiest pictures or use creative angles. I pretty much use the same filters for everything and actually spending money on an app to make them prettier is never going to happen. I take pictures of what I see and then tell the story with words. I know that a picture is worth a thousand words, but I use the picture as a starting point and then fill you in on a story. I don’t know how to tell a story without words. I wish I did. Maybe I should work on that
That’s where I spent most of my summer, on Instagram, and away from the computer. It was too hard to sit down at our computer, load and edit some pictures, and then write a bunch of words that I wasn’t feeling. Most recently, when something comes to me, I’ll hastily type it out on my phone, normally while the girls are swimming or I’m sitting on the couch watching cartoons with them. We’ll see if those go anywhere.
Until then, Instagram!
