weekend read: Shiver

Another YA trilogy obsession…HOW SHOCKING.

Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater has been out for a while (and all three books have been published so I don’t have to wait for the next one–yessss), and I’ve never had the desire to read it. From the beginning you know there will be werewolves and I just don’t get down with all that Twilight, vampires, werewolves, stuff–it’s just not my jam.

But in a moment of weakness, I grabbed Shiver and then I couldn’t stop reading. When I borrowed this from the library, I didn’t actually know it was a series, but as I neared the end, it was obvious this story wasn’t going to be wrapped up by the end of the book. So now I’m hooked.

Shiver

Shiver is about a girl who was bit by wolves when she was younger. Since then, she’s had a wolf watch over her from the edge of the woods that border her backyard. This would be weird for most people, but she loves it and becomes obsessed with the wolf with yellow eyes. She calls him “her wolf.” When the pack he’s a part of start attacking people, the town starts hunting them and she fears for his wolf-life.

She doesn’t know he’s actually a werewolf and when he turns human again, they fall in love OF COURSE. I can’t help tell you how silly this is even as I tell you I loved it, and I think you should read it.

Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater is fun, addicting, romantic young adult literature you sorta feel guilty for reading but you can’t stop either. This is why I love reading so much–some books are just fun distractions from the real world that seems too heavy a lot of the time. Shiver is the perfect, silly vacation read and I can’t wait to read the next two books.
