I can’t stop talking about this book. Have you read The Husband’s Secret by Laine Moriarty yet?
Stop everything and go get it right now. I’ll wait…
The story starts out with Cecilia Fitzpatrick, a do-it-all mom with a happy marriage. While her husband is out of town, she stumbles across an old letter her husband wrote with instructions to open only after he dies. At first she ignores it, but when her husband arrives home unexpectedly early after she mentions finding it, her curiosity gets the best of her.
The contents of the letter, like Pandora’s box, can’t be unlearned or forgotten, and they alter the course of their lives and many other people’s lives forever.
The Husband’s Secret weaves a masterfully written story of three women, Cecilia and two strangers, who are linked forever due to tragedy and circumstance. Moriaty intertwines their lives, struggles, and secrets together in a way that keeps you on your toes and guessing the whole time. The power she gives the narrator to tell us how things should have been and what things would have happened if this secret–this shocking secret–never happened leaves the reader absolutely stunned.
I loved The Husband’s Secret by Laine Moriarty. It made me look at my children differently; it made me wonder about how things end up and how things could be different. You’ve got to read this book.
(I’ve read Moriarty before and loved What Alice Forgot, another good novel if you end up liking her style.)
