weekend read: The Nest

If you need a good miniseries-like book full of greed, family drama, deception, and lessons about counting your chickens before they hatch, The Nest by Cynthia D’Aprix Sweeney is your next book selection.

the-nest

The story of the grown Plumb children is told from at least seven different points of view–all revolving around an inheritance left by their father. He intended to leave them a nice little chunk of change that would be used to take a vacation or add to an already established savings account. What he didn’t count on is through wise investing moves from his estate executor, the Nest (as the siblings refer to it) has grown into a large (very large) amount of money. And as the time comes for the money to be distributed, the oldest brother makes a series of bad choices that takes the Nest out.

The book follows the siblings as they try to recover from lives spent (and choices made) living for the inheritance. Nothing brings out the ugly faster than when you combine money and family and The Nest by Cynthia D’Aprix Sweeney is no exception. I liked reading this book of greed and betrayal. It was entertaining and juicy.
