This lady put together a little Indiana blogger meet-up. (She doesn’t technically live in Indiana, but that’s not the point. If you’re confused, read her blog.)
I was super nervous and slightly sweaty as I made my way downtown to Scotty’s Brewhouse, but I acted uber-confident and like I did stuff like this all the time.
I was totally exuding confidence until I ran into my friend Ashley on the patio of the restaurant and I tried to convince her to leave her family and come with me.
She declined so we’re no longer friends. RIP Ashley.
I finally make my way in and guess what?
I’m the only person to show up.
It was about to get really awkward up in here (here: Scotty’s Brewhouse).
Except it didn’t.
Tiffany happened to bring a friend because she was afraid no one would show up. So the three of us had drinks, fried pickles, and dinner. And it wasn’t weird. At all.
And it wasn’t even weird when their husbands, who were hiding at the bar, came over and talked for a bit. I know you’re probably shaking your head and imagining I’m just saying these things because Tiffany might be reading, but FOR REAL. It wasn’t weird and I had a really good time.
We talked about blogging for exactly three minutes at the end of the evening at a bar across the street. So it was definitely more random internet meet-up (but without the Craigslist killer) than blogger shindig, but it was pretty much fun so I didn’t care.
And in a weird way, it gave me the confidence I needed to be okay with attending The Influence Conference. I bought my ticket to that thing without really thinking it through and then later realized I would know no one and what if NO ONE TALKS TO ME?!
But after this meet-up, I realized I’d be okay at Influence. And guess what? I was just fine, but we’ll talk about that tomorrow.
Linking up with the The Pleated Poppy, Transatlantic Blonde, and Rolled Up Pretty.
LOL I love it.
